Private Residence, Aspen

This private residence expresses a mountain vernacular language reflected in the use of heavy timbers which are juxtaposed in relation to the grove of trees in which it is sited along the River. Wood and local stone are used for interior and exterior finishes, and the bronze-clad windows are durable and yet lend the house a warm feeling. These traditional elements are tempered by a dose of Modernism seen in the house's crisp detailing and the modular regularity of its members.
