The new Carroll A. Campbell Jr. United States Courthouse encompasses one city block of Downtown Greenville, South Carolina. The 193,000 SF building houses seven courtrooms for the United States District and Magistrate Courts, along with supporting program including the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Probation Office, and Federal Defenders Offices. The building design projects an enduring civic presence, drawing upon classical formal precedents, while embracing contemporary planning strategies, construction techniques, and sustainable approaches that improve quality of life, promote future flexibility of use, and reduce its environmental impact. The building is USGBC LEED Gold certified and anticipates SITES Silver certification.
