Cordia Harrington Center for Excellence, University of Arkansas

Prominently located in the heart of the historic campus, the new Cordia Harrington Center for Excellence is set into a sloping site that allows the Center to connect to grade at two levels, from the welcoming, open lobby that faces the adjoining Quad, down through to a student gathering space and an outdoor terrace. The design of this 71,000 sf, four-story building respects the campus's architectural heritage and features tutoring and mentoring spaces, multi-use lounges, classrooms, conference rooms and faculty offices, and a notable food service component on the ground floor to engage the campus community. Spaces are planned to foster interaction between students and faculty while providing flexibility to accommodate future growth and programmatic evolution. The project achieved a LEED v4 BD+C NC Silver Sustainability Certification.
