Michele Silvetti-Schmitt, Principal

Michele serves as President and Principal in Charge of Operations.  She first joined HBRA in 1993 and returned in 2006 as a Principal after having worked in architecture in Germany. At HBRA, she has contributed to a broad range of projects that include libraries, science and academic buildings, master plans, cultural and religious facilities and private residences; representative projects including the Bass Library at Yale University and the Alderman Library Renewal at University of Virginia. Michele’s prior experience includes her role as Design and Project Architect for Kauffmann Theilig & Partner in Stuttgart, Germany, and collaboration with J. Schmitt, Stuttgart, on several award-winning architectural design Competitions.

Beyond her work at HBRA, Michele has juried academic reviews and professional design awards, and has served as an advisor to the Oak Park School District’s Facilities Advisory Committee and member of the Board of Directors of the Oak Park Art League.

Ms. Silvetti-Schmitt graduated from the College of Architecture, Art & Planning at Cornell in 1992, and received a Master of Architecture from the University of Stuttgart in 1999. She is a registered architect in the State of Illinois and in Germany.
